I liked the small atmosphere and the friendly Shauna behind the bar. The Fish and Chips with mushy peas, was a nice warm meal and filling. Tons of flavor. I am now a huge fan of mushy peas!
The Guinness was a perfect pour and temperature!
Music in the background...not too loud.
There were two TVs within the bar area as well that had subtitles.
I am glad that I ventured down to this place - easy walk from the Hilton. No one recommended it to me, but I will certainly recommend it to others. It is worth a try! -

If you like to chat with local, down to earth people, this is the place to go. You won't experience anything fancy except a good pint and good conversation. If you are into GAA sports, it will be on the television. Drinks are good, pints pulled with love and lots welcoming to strangers.

A trad Irish bar, with live entertainment at weekends in the evening and occasionally mid week. They have a decent selection of beer and the Guinness is nice. There is food served and although it looks nice I haven't tried it. It's a perfect place for a quiet pint basically.

Ronnie Drews in a pub which is steeped in History and in prime location minutes from the Waterfront Hall, City Hall and next door to the fabulous St George's Market. The bar has recently been done up and is a great place to go for a pint and a bit of pub grub! The decor consists of lots of wood, booths and wide screen Tv's ideal for the football. The food is the usual pub grub burgers, steaks, chicken and fish. The Trio of fish is pretty good! They also offer soup and sandwiches and although they offer an ulster fry I haven't tried it..yet!

I like Ronnie Drews.
It has had a makeover from its previous incarnation as Maginnis's and had a bit of a bad rep because of the event that took place at it a number of years ago.
It was just literally around the corner from where I work, and I had not been in it before and needed somewhere close by to meet for a work day lunch, so chose here, and came along with a completely open mind, unaffected by what the place might have been like previously.
I was impressed with how it looked, bright, spacious, modern, and comforable but intimate booths, where you could sit and have a bite to eat and a chat.
It wasn't terribly busy and the waitress was straight over to us, chatting away and passing the time of day, she gave us recommendations for food on the menu.
We ordered our food, I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which came quickly and was very tasty and a perfect amount for lunch.
I've not drank in here before, but would not hesitate to come back for a meal. It is very friendly, comfortable, and does good food for a decent price.
